AUF DER SUCHE NAHCH FRITZ KANN 

Ein Film über 3 Generationen Schweigen und das Erinnern heute. Marcel Kolvenbach folgt in seinem Film den Spuren des ersten Mannes seiner Großmutter: des Juden Fritz Kann. Dieser wurde 1942 – genau 9 Monate vor der Geburt des Vaters des Filmemachers – deportiert und in Izbica von den Nazis ermordet. Ist Marcel Kolvenbach der Enkel von Fritz Kann oder verdankt er seine Existenz dem Umstand, dass Fritz Kann deportiert und ermordet wurde? 

Die Suche nach dem Deportierten führt von einem ehemaligen Schlachthof in Düsseldorf auf eine Reise über Polen nach Argentinien und zurück, nach Ost-Berlin. Die Choreografie der israelischen Tänzerin Reuth Shemesh schafft einen imaginären Raum, der die Lücken in der Familiengeschichte neu interpretiert, eingefangen von der Bildgestalterin Katja-Rivas Pinzón. 

„Auf der Suche nach Fritz Kann“ ist eine Produktion von publicnomad productions und wird im Verleih von Real Fiction ins Kino gebracht. Der Dokumentarfilm wurde u.a. bereits beim Buenos Aires Film Festival und beim Polish International Film Festival gezeigt und der Soundtrack von Cassis B Staudt war für den Deutschen Dokumentarfilm Musikpreis nominiert. Der Film wurde 2022 auf dem Kinofest Lünen mit dem Hauptpreis, der Lüdia ausgezeichnet, die spanische Fassung erhielt auf dem 20. Jewish Film Festival in Punta del Este, Uruguay 2023 den Publikumspreis als "Bester Film"  und kam ab 12. Januar 2023 in die Kinos.

SEARCHING FOR FRITZ KANN

A film about 3 generations of silence and remembering today. In his film, Marcel Kolvenbach follows the footsteps of his grandmother's first husband: the Jew Fritz Kann. He was deported in 1942 - exactly 9 months before the birth of the filmmaker's father - and murdered by the Nazis in Izbica. Is Marcel Kolvenbach Fritz Kann's grandson or does he owe his existence to the fact that Fritz Kann was deported and murdered? The search for the deportees leads from a former slaughterhouse in Düsseldorf to a journey via Poland to Argentina and back to East Berlin. The choreography by Israeli dancer Reuth Shemesh creates an imaginary space that reinterprets the gaps in family history, captured by visual artist Katja-Rivas Pinzón. "Searching for Fritz Kann" is a production of publicnomad productions and will be released in cinemas by Real Fiction. The documentary film has already been shown at the Buenos Aires Film Festival and the Polish International Film Festival, among others, and the soundtrack by Cassis B Staudt was nominated for the German Documentary Film Music Prize. The film was awarded with the main prize LÜDIA at the Lünen cinema festival and the Spanish version voted by the audience "Best Film" at the 20th Jewish Film Festival, Punta del Este, Uruguay 2023. It was released in cinemas in Germany on January 12th.

BUSCANDO A FRITZ KANN 

Una película sobre 3 generaciones de silencio y recuerdo hoy. En su película, Marcel Kolvenbach sigue los pasos del primer marido de su abuela: el judío Fritz Kann. Fue deportado en 1942 -exactamente 9 meses antes del nacimiento del padre del cineasta- y asesinado por los nazis en Izbica. ¿Es Marcel Kolvenbach nieto de Fritz Kann o debe su existencia al hecho de que Fritz Kann fue deportado y asesinado? La búsqueda de los deportados lleva desde un antiguo matadero en Düsseldorf a un viaje a través de Polonia a Argentina y de regreso a Berlín Oriental. La coreografía del bailarín israelí Reuth Shemesh crea un espacio imaginario que reinterpreta los vacíos en la historia familiar, capturados por la artista visual Katja-Rivas Pinzón. “Searching for Fritz Kann” es una producción de publicnomad productions y será estrenada en cines por Real Fiction. El documental ya fue exhibido en el Festival de Cine de Buenos Aires y el Festival Internacional de Cine Polaco, entre otros, y la banda sonora de Cassis B Staudt fue nominada al Premio de Música de Cine Documental Alemán. La película recibí la premia LÜDIA del festival de cine de Lünen y 
"Mejor Película del Festival" (premio del público) en el 20° Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival, Uruguay 2023. Salió en cines en Alemania a partir del 12 de enero 2023.

The documentary draws from findings of a long-term community-based participatory study anchor in low-income rural and peri-urban areas of Argentina, with the goal of providing insights into the role played by social determinants of health in cancer inequity. It is based on a collaborative design.

Latin America has almost twice the overall cancer mortality than global north countries, and a greater proportion of the burden of morbidity, with inequities associated with this cancer burden (IARC/WHO, 2008). The role played by the first level of attention turned out to be an important determinant for explaining this gap, especially since it is much more easily modified than distal determinants, due to the fact that there are cancers that diagnosed in time are either preventable, such as cervical cancer, or treatable and curable if detected in early stages, such as breast cancer. This documentary draws from findings of a long-term community-based participatory study anchor in low-income rural and peri-urban areas of Argentina, with the goal of providing insights into the role played by social determinants of health in cancer inequity during the first phases of the continuum of cancer control. It is based on a collaborative design oriented to equity; organized in a collaborative format; and work with communities. Eight health centres were selected through a strategic sampling that combined theoretical and empirical selection criteria. The populations of these communities have economic difficulties, low or no level of education and there were social problem scenarios in adverse environmental conditions. The strategy combined more specific forms of inquiry, mainly ethnography but also some other qualitative methods. These non-intrusive methods were enriched with the perspectives of the locals who were also researchers.
